Blue Poaching

The “Blue Poaching” series, done with acrylic on canvas, draws attention to a small fraction of the overwhelming number of endangered species as a result of illegal hunting and poaching. The aggressive red handprints represent the clear and harmful mark of humanity left on these species. The melancholic blues of the animals conveys the tragic sadness over the unnecessary loss of species while the sharp, lively orange of the eyes expresses that these animals are still alive and that their end is not inevitable. Ultimately, these works attempt to express the emotional voice of species affected that cannot speak for themselves.
